In 1987, the state government took over the freedom fighter’s ancestral house and declared it a heritage building. There is a library and museum built in the memory of Lala Lajpat Rai, who was better known as Punjab Kesari (Lion of Punjab). The museum houses original things used by him including his bed, utensils, and pictures of his family. The ancestral house is undergoing restoration work and the library building is undergoing repairs and renovation under the 13th Finance Commission Projects by Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Archaeology and Museums. A museum showcasing the life of Lalaji is under process.
