The Museum set up in 1991 by Kurukshetra Development Board and the Museum houses a collection of art objects celebrating Lord Krishna. It also puts on display a number of primitive and modern objects of art associated with the Hindu epic, Mahabharata. In 1995, a new block was added to the existing building. The artifacts at display present Krishna as a God, a reincarnation of Lord Vishnu, a great philosopher, an epic hero, a wise statesman and a supreme lover. The museum also displays idols and frescoes that were found during various excavations in the area.
